Books I read in 2011 Link Party!

I loveeeeeeeeeeee to read.  I would rather go to bed at 8:00 with a good book then do just about anything in the world.  I use to think I was totally lame, staring longingly at my warm covers at 7:15 pm, but I’m slowly excepting myself for the book nerd that I am!  I went the movies last night and got home at 9:40 and told my husband I was out late.  You should have seen the look he gave me!!!
As Nester says, you can learn a lot about a person by what they read.  So I am a little scared to share the books that I have spent my time on in 2011.  However I want to join up on Nester’s “Books I read in 2011 Link Party” so here goes!!!!
            To Kill a Mockingbird
The Color Purple
   The Happiness Project
 Into the Wild
 The Shack
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (the movie is AWESOME!!!!)
The Girl who Played With Fire
The Same Kind of Difference as Me (favorite book of 2011)
 Traveling Mercies
The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest
   Breaking Free
 Heaven is for Real
  90 Minutes in Heaven
   Grace for the Good Girl
   One Thousand Gifts
  Secret Life of Bees (again)
The Refund (my sister in love gave me the coolest gift this year for Christmas.  She gave me a subscription to One StoryOne Story is a non-profit literary magazine that features one short story mailed to subscribers every three weeks.  I love it!
Books I am currently reading:
Jesus Calling
 The Great Gatsby
The Happiness Project (again!!!)
Fear Not Tomorrow, God is Already There
Books I want to read in 2012:
Does anyone know of a top 100 or top 200 reading list?  One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to read more and not just at night when I go to sleep.  I always read in bed and get through about three or four pages and then I’m out.
What was your favorite book of 2011???  I would love some suggestions for my next read!

Ang, have you read The Help or Water for Elephants? They were both made into movies earlier this year…but read the books first! Also, check out the novella Very Valentine by Adriana Trigiani and its sequel Brava Valentine. And if you like her, read Big Stone Gap. Oh, and Wish You Well…it's a tear-jerker but it's soooo good! Miss you, my friend!
    xoxo -s

I am a total book geek too. I too am planning on reading more than when I just get into bed because it puts me to sleep! Hey, 9:40 is late! I get up darn early and by 10 am it is the middle of the day for me. Let's see, what did I read that I LOVED. My three most favorite, starting with #1, “Cutting for Stone”, you must read this book! I also read “Unbroken”, which I think every American should read. And last, but not least, if you have kids, read “Nurture Shock”. It was amazing and opened my eyes to so many long held beliefs that were just rocked off their supports. Are you on You should if you are not, great place to get book recommendations from other avid readers.

Yes I read Glass Castle and loveddddd it. I should read it again. Isn't there a follow up to it? I think it is about the mom and how she became homeless. I am going to look into that!

I loved “choosing to see” by marybeth chapman (steven curtis chapman's wife). in case you don't know…they lost their adopted 5 year old little girl to a car accident…it is sad to read but also halarious at times.

Loved your post! I also have the “bed is calling” syndrome around 7pm…lots of nights I give in to it! I have read many of the books on your list…or will be reading them in '12. My favorite book of 2011 was Uncle Toms Cabin…it's a big one, but so worth the read! I'll be posting my Books read in 2011 on my blog shortly!

Oh my, I would have LOVED to participate in this link party! Back when I was an avid blog reader and didn't focus on my own as much; I had time to read other blogs more. The Nester's Nesting Place is still one of my favorites when I have the time. Otherwise I would have known about this link party…lesson learned. Anyway, sorry I got off subject…I love to read as well. I noticed you read Twilight & Eclipse. Curious {I didn't read all the comments so sorry if you already answered this for someone else.} why you didn't read New Moon & Breaking Dawn. When I read that series I couldn't stop reading! It was the Twilight series that actually inspired my LOVE to read fiction. After looking at the list, it may be that you don't like fantasy as much as I do. Books you might consider {I read in 2011} that aren't fantasy are One Thousand White Women, The Gifts of Imperfection & Good Enough is the New Perfect.

One of the books that I loved in 2011 was Sarah's Key by Tatianna de Rosnay. They made it into a movie but I haven't seen it yet. Another really good book was The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. I am trying now to read The Hunger Games before the movie comes out in March. My daughter read the whole series, which is pretty brave because it gives me nightmares. As for non-fiction, I would recommend anything by Max Lucado. Oh, and Do You Think I'm Beautiful? by Angela Thomas
