Love it or hate it!?!?!?

I heart Pinterest.  Such a great place to get ideas, and to be inspired by all the crafty, artsy people all over the world.  But man oh man is Pinterest a time sucker or what!?!?!?  I log in and time just seems to  VANISH.  I look at the clock, I forgot to make dinner, I forgot to feed the dog, I forgot that I had kids outside playing, I forgot to bathe.  However I did pin several cool art projects, an idea for our fireplace, and now have 200 ways to use paint chips!!
When I finally figured out how to use Pinterest I was addicted.  You can see my boards here and see just how crazy in love with Pinterest I have become.  It’s like a giant online craft book, art book, and inspiration book all rolled into one.  Just last night I curled up in bed not with my book, but with the computer and spent, (I am so embarrassed) almost 2 hours looking at color, paint samples, sewing patterns, quotes, art, furniture, craft rooms and different ways to use vintage hankies.  By 10:00 pm when I am usually fast asleep, I had to keep myself from getting out of bed and going downstairs and getting into the paint.

This pin is one of my favorites.  I loved the colors, the design, and love the paper used as the background.  This one little pin has inspired me for the past week and caused me to spend several hours in my studio.

I bought these two wall hangings at a yard sale for $1.00.  They were cute but I was more interested in the wood and the fact that they already had the hardware on the back for hanging.

My version of the flower.

One little pin and lots of little houses later!!

I am curious…. does Pinterest inspire you?  Do you get lost looking at all the beauty or does it make you feel inadequate and full of lack.  Do you get lots of ideas and creative energy or do you feel drained and defeated after spending time on Pinterest?  I have heard both sides to it.  I have heard that people love it and I have heard that people loathe it.  I love Christina’s point of view on the subject.  What do you think???  Love it or hate it??

You know, I thought it would be a huge time suck for me and so far it hasn't. I use it to quickly bookmark ideas I see, but when it comes to looking through other people's pins, the amt of content is SO overwhelming that I just don't even go there!

I admit I only pin for myself to bookmark an idea, something new I want to try. I don't spend any time at all looking at other people's boards. I did use it to collaborate with some other team members on a project and that was helpful to be able to “see” their ideas and get the vibe they were looking for without having to meet.

I'm afraid of getting too copy-cat if I spend too much time looking at what everyone else is doing. I like to get ideas and jumping off points rather than fully formed projects, especially since I'm likely to try to sell them.

Love it! I don't spend a lot of time searching topics & perusing other pinner's boards (mostly just my friend's boards…so I'm @ yours a lot!), but I do repin if something on the main page inspires me. I use the “pin it” book marklet quite a lot while I'm out & about on the web…I've made sure it's installed on every computer in the house! I also let my kiddo have her own Pinterest account…it's fun to see the things she finds pin-worthy…and I love that she repins a lot of my pins.

p.s. love the houses!! xoxo -s

I am still trying to figure out how to bookmard things I see on the web. Right now the only way I know how to pin things is by looking at other people's pins. That might be where the time suck is coming from!hahaha
    lots of love

I admit I pin things mostly for my own interests – which include things other than (gasp) crafts! I enjoy it though, and I enjoy stumbleupon as well. Just a fun new way to explore the world. I DO try to limit my time to just a little while each week though! TRY being the operative word…

Pinterest pulls you in, I spent BIG time on it this weekend, I have been encouraged to craft more, I am taking a crochet class this weekend, i can straight crochet but I don know how to read the directions, I have used recipes and I love to see what my friends like
Its like a “fairy Land” for me, makes your imagination go as wild as you want, and it looks like you have had some fun

We are re-doing an 1880's house and I pull most of my inspiration from Pinterest. Like the blue mason jar light fixture that now hangs in my kitchen! As far as pinning from the web: Copy the web address at the top of the page you want to pin, then click the Add button on the top right of your Pinterest page and paste the web address and you should be able to take it from there! Hope that helps!? I follow you on Pinterest, by the way;)

I love being able to organize ideas, it's much better than bookmarking everything I like as I used to do. Yes, it can be a time drainer, but so can lots of things. I just clicked over and read Christina's blog about it and I have to disagree with her. At least from my point of view, it doesn't make me feel inadequate at all. Just the opposite, it inspires me to try new things. Much like reading blogs does. So I really like it!

By the way, thanks for the link to your boards, I'm now following you :)

Ya know, I just don't get Pinterest! I've heard others rave about it, but I just don't see it. Maybe I haven't spent enough time there or quite figured it out yet?

So funny, I was looking at your boards last night and stole a bunch of your pins :) I love it…but it did suck my time at first. Now that I know how to navigate it better I can pop on and off in 10 minutes. Having a place to organize EVERYTHING is awesome!

Thankssssssss on my way to try it now! I have tried everything in the world and still don't know what I am doing wrong! Hopefully this will be my answer, although I am sure my computer hates me.

Pinterest makes me smile, especially when I see other people's personalities shining through the things they decide to pin. There's the friend who loves can really tell by all her food pins. There is my sister in law who is the quintessential prissy girl whom I love…then there are the quote queens. For me, it's a place to dream and smile…love it!
