I had to go to the mall a couple of weeks ago for work. I was completely confused when I saw this. I seriously stopped for a moment and stared at this tree. Wait a minute, it’s only November 5th, why the heck is the Christmas tree up?
I went inside and heard Christmas music. I stopped again. What is going on? Then I saw this guy. I almost had a heart attack right there in front of Victoria Secrets!!! Why was Santa at the mall!?!? We were just trick or treating a few nights ago!!! I totally felt like I was in the twilight zone and had fallen asleep and then woke up a month later. I’m like sleeping beauty in this story folks.
So apparently Christmas is right around the corner! Did you guys know this? I use to be one of those Christmas shoppers who started their shopping in October! Now I’m one of those freaks out Christmas Eve panicking. My poor kids. One Christmas morning when there were no presents, I told my kids Santa was sick and that he would come the next week. I kid. And while we’re on the subject, what’s up with this whole Santa game? He’s costing me an arm and a leg. I get presents for my kids from him and then I have to get presents from mom and dad too! Would I be a bad mom if I just told them the truth this year? Look kids I have been lying to you since you were born. There is no fat man that drives reindeer and breaks into our house by chimney and leaves nice presents. Why do I have to give santa all the credit on my hard work finding the perfect gift?
Ok while I’m venting, let’s talk about the Elf on the Shelf. OH MY GOSH. This little guy makes me crazy. I would really like to meet the person who is responsible for this Elf on the Shelf nonsense. And I would also like to have a sit down with the member of my family who thought it would be cute to give this freaking elf to my kids for Christmas several years ago. This really needs to be discussed next time. It never fails, I crawl into bed, pull the warm cozy blanket over me, about to drift off into beautiful peaceful sleep and then WHAMMMMOOO! I forgot to move that flipping (insert another word here if you like) elf. So then I have to get up, stumble downstairs and try to be creative with this elf and create some trouble he got in at 10:00 at night. I am not creative at 10:00 at night. Last year, on the last day I put him in the toilet.
Geez this is totally not how I wanted to introduce my friend Jamie!!!!! Apparently I have some pent up Christmas issues! hahaha! With Christmas not too far off, it’s time to get some shopping done. Let me be of assistance to you!! If you are looking for some awesome one of a kind jewelry for that special person well look no further!
I want to introduce you to my amazing talented sweet friend Jamie. She repurposes broken or unwanted jewelry into new pieces that look modern, current and funky. She is inspired by her faith when she designs her jewelry and shares a scripture devotional or an experience in her own faith on her Facebook page called Testify jewelry. Here is how she describes her design mission:
Testify is a hybrid where faith intersects with fashion and is developed to help you memorize scripture and start the conversation with others about your faith. It makes sense to launch this line on social media as Luke in Acts declares testify to the gospel of the grace of Jesus Christ (Acts 20:24). My hope is to proclaim God’s words and promises through two other loves of mine (jewelry and home decor). Like Jesus takes broken, discarded lives, I turn broken, discarded jewelry into new creations with purpose and relevance for today. I pale in comparison to HIS ultimate design in all of creation. Wear your Faith…Share your Faith
This winged heart necklace was made from an old key fob heart she found in the box of jewels. She removed the ornamental heart from the key fob, and attached it to this angel wing necklace. I think it resembles an Ed Hardy piece. Who knew something so old, could be so current and edgy! Isn’t it gorgeous!!
These suede tassel earrings came from another client of hers who wanted to remember her brother who had passed away. He had an old worn fringed suede jacket that he wore while he worked on his farm. He died tragically and this was one of his belongings Jamie’s client held on to. She couldn’t wear the jacket, but couldn’t bring herself to get rid of it either. So Jamie used the fringe from the western jacket and made these tassel fringe earrings that her client could wear.
Sweet Jamie made these awesome earrings for my birthday last year. See the button, see the bird? She is truly brilliant and ohhhhh so talented!
So Hop on over to her Facebook page searching Testify Jewelry and see her other inspirational designs based in scripture. Mention Button Bird Designs and get 10% off!!
p.s I’m really not that much of a scrooge. I am listening to Christmas music as I type this!
