Nester and I leave tomorrow bright and early for The Becoming Conference. I am so happy my dear friend will be with me. I am soooooooo excited but sooooo nervous. Have I mentioned that I’m nervous? Have I mentioned that I failed one class in college and it was public speaking!?!? Even though I have enough butterflies to stock a super gigantic butterfly garden, I am really excited to talk about creative Inspiration and show off some easy trash to treasure projects.
Speaking of trash to treasure….. Since I’m speaking I really wanted to run to Anthropologie and buy a really pretty funky dress to wear to the conference. I figured this dress would make me feel better when I forget what I am suppose to say, faint on stage, or embarrass myself and my small children. Yeah, I haven’t lost any sleep this week at all. I wanted a new dress but I didn’t want to spend lots of money. If I’m going to spend money its going to be at Goodwill, Metrolina, or some fabric store.
Instead of hitting the mall, I went to Goodwill instead. I found this new dress with tags still on it for $4.99. It’s really plain and lacks color, but I thought maybe I could take it home and add a few of my own little Anthropologieish touches.
I bought these two scarves at a yard sale for .25 each. I’m not really a scarf girl but I couldn’t pass up on the polka dots. These two scarves where the inspiration behind my dress transformation! Since it’s fall I decided to go with the brown polka dot scarf.
Yes. I am hot gluing the rosettes directly onto the dress. If it doesn’t hold up in the wash I’m out $5.00 bucks. At least I will get a couple of wears out of it, and then I can use the fabric for something else!
